Job Summary

The Caton Companies is seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team in Wake County, NC. As a Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks involving physical labor at highway and heavy construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform manual labor in preparing surfaces for paving, including shoveling bituminous concrete (asphalt) into construction areas.
  • Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix, and excavate and fill trenches and ditches.
  • Maintain a clean job site, including picking up all tools and equipment and securing the site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Perform materials handling and storage, including loading and unloading trucks and hauling and hoisting materials.
  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Assist Foremen and other Supervisors as needed, including mixing, pouring, and spreading materials, erecting and stripping form work.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and adhere to company safety procedures and practices at all times.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License Required.
  • 2+ years of heavy highway experience; Roads, Highways, Bridges, DOT, or site work project experience.
  • Valid CDL a plus OSHA 10 hour training or Flagger Certification a plus.
