Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of a student achievement strategy.
  • Deliver individual and group counseling services for students in the Success Academy.
  • Oversee and assess MTSS Tier 2 and 3 attendance and behavioral interventions for all students.
  • Provide crisis intervention support for students, maintaining certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention.
  • Keep precise and current records of evaluations, interventions, and progress tracking.
  • Effectively communicate with school leaders, parents, and other stakeholders regarding student development and behavioral issues.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards, including IEPs, 504s, and Alternative Learning Programs.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records as mandated by law, district policy, and administrative guidelines.
  • Conduct classes in designated locations and times.
  • Offer preventative and responsive counseling, both individually and in groups, to assist students in resolving personal, social, and academic challenges.
  • Act as a resource for career and vocational educational information.
  • Provide guidance to parents and students regarding community resources.
  • Advise students on college selection and financial aid opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff on student-related concerns.
  • Facilitate effective communication among staff and parents.
  • Participate in the pupil personnel referral process at the school level.
  • Assist with student registration and orientation initiatives.
  • Modify student programs and schedules throughout the academic year.
  • Oversee the implementation and tracking of individual student four-year plans.
  • Coordinate district assessment initiatives within the school.
  • Manage the maintenance of student records.
  • Advise school administrators and staff on student-related matters.
  • Promote the guidance program within the community.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the school administrator.
  • Foster and maintain open communication channels with students and their families regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Build and sustain cooperative relationships with others.
Qualifications:

Must possess Illinois licensure with a School Counselor endorsement. Capability to engage with students across all levels as a Counselor. Familiarity with college readiness competencies and experience with common core standards is preferred. A commitment to teamwork and collaboration, along with a reflective approach and a desire for continuous professional growth, is essential.
