Program Overview
Wilkes University is seeking qualified professionals to join the SHINE afterschool program team. The program provides hands-on STEAM instructional activities to students in 1st through 8th grade in six local school districts.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead Teachers: Oversee staff and curriculum, maintain student records, communicate with families and school administration, and ensure student well-being during program hours.
- Teachers: Support lead teachers, assist with curriculum development, and manage student activities.
- Educational Support Staff: Assist teachers in planning and carrying out lessons, and provide support in educational settings.
- Substitute Teachers: Provide instruction and support to students in the absence of regular teachers.
- Teacher Assistants/Paraprofessionals: Assist with classroom management, activities, and food service, and have opportunities to assist with project development.
Requirements
- Lead Teachers, Teachers, and Substitute Teachers: Bachelor's Degree and current Pennsylvania Teacher certification required.
- Educational Support Staff: Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
- Teacher Assistants/Paraprofessionals: Current college students and/or individuals with experience working with children may apply.
Work Schedule
Positions average 10-15 hours per week, with staff required to work 2 or 4 days per week between the hours of 3:15-6:30, Monday through Thursday.
