Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Digital Press Operator to join our team at Jetson Specialty Marketing. As a key member of our Print Operations Group, you will be responsible for controlling and utilizing commercial laser printers to achieve quality and quantity goals according to customer guidelines and standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine job jackets to determine quantities to be printed, stock specifications, colors, or special printing instructions.
  • Clean ink and maintain machine cleanliness and operability.
  • Collect and inspect random samples during print runs to identify necessary adjustments.
  • Download or select programs or files to be printed using printing production software.
  • Feed paper through press cylinders and adjust feed and tension controls.
  • Input production job settings into workstation terminals that control automated printing systems.
  • Load presses with paper and make necessary adjustments according to paper size.
  • Monitor automated press operation systems and respond to fault, error, or alert messages.
  • Start printers and pull proofs to check for ink coverage and density, alignment, and registration.
  • Control workflow scheduling or job tracking.
  • Maintain time or production records.
  • Estimate and deliver upon schedules and plans.
  • Quality check own work and work of others and fill out quality checklist properly.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and promote company values and culture.
Requirements
  • Skilled in Operation Monitoring — watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machine operability.
  • Knowledge of Computers — applications and data processing.
  • Knowledge of the English language — structure and content of English language, including meaning and spelling of words, and rules of composition and grammar.
  • Mathematical Knowledge — arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications.
  • Skilled in Quality Control Analysis — conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Skilled in Reading Comprehension — understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Skilled in Active Listening — giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Skilled in Judgment and Decision Making — considering relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Strength and Endurance Ability — lifting up to 50 lbs; standing, bending, and stooping for up to 12 hours; using abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
  • Ability with Arm-Hand Steadiness — keeping hand and arm steady while moving arm or while holding arm and hand in one position.
  • Ability to Perform Control Precision — quickly and repeatedly adjusting controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to Act with Problem Sensitivity — telling when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Ability to Apply Manual Dexterity — quickly moving hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Multi-limb Coordination Ability — coordinating two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
  • Ability to Order Information — arranging things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
