The University of Virginia is seeking a skilled Boiler Operator to join our team at the University Heat Plant. As a key member of our Energy & Utilities team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our heat plants, ensuring the reliable delivery of steam and hot water to our campus facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor and operate heat plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot operating problems, taking corrective action to prevent plant shutdowns.
- Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment, maintaining accurate logs and reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- Order and administer chemicals for boiler feed water treatment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a maintenance field or industrial environment operating related equipment.
- ASOPE licensure required within one year of hire.
- Valid driver's license.
- Competitive salary range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour ($52,000 - $62,400 annually).
- Sign-on bonus of $3,000 for a one-year commitment.
