Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the daily organization of activities in the department. This role involves performing radiographic procedures on various radiographic equipment, assisting radiologists, and maintaining filing records and paperwork. Effective communication and a positive work environment are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview patients prior to testing, analyzing their general body size, physical condition, age, and medical history to accurately apply radiographic procedures.
  • Set, adjust, and control complex electronic equipment to apply ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations.
  • Assess the technical quality of radiographs before providing them to the radiologist, performing repeats as necessary.
  • Provide protection to patients and fellow employees in accordance with national, state, and departmental safety standards.
  • Document patient information necessary for exam interpretation and patient care.
  • Assist radiologists in the administration of contrast materials.
  • Communicate effectively with center customers, including nursing staff, physicians, and the general public, on radiographic procedures, radiographic anatomy, and radiation safety practices.
Requirements
  • Must hold or obtain current licensure as a RT(R) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Must hold or obtain current BLS certification.
