Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team at Microsoft Corporation. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data processing systems and architectures.

About the Role

This is a high-impact role that requires a strong background in data engineering, cloud computing, and software development. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement end-to-end data pipelines, collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements, and develop and maintain data integration processes.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines within Azure offerings to support business analytics needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical designs and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain data integration processes, ensuring data quality, reliability, and scalability.
  • Perform data modeling and schema design to support analytics and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data engineering processes, including data lineage, data dictionaries, and data governance policies.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices in data engineering, Azure services, and cloud-based analytics.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of data processing and storage systems to improve overall efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work.
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ year(s) experience in business analytics, data science, software development, or data engineering work.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience in data modeling, data engineering.
  • 4+ years development experience and design skills.
  • Experience with technical deep dives into service design, operating systems, networking and storage.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ADO (Azure Dev Ops) management experience.
  • Desired coding languages include SQL, Apache Spark Languages such as Python and C#.
  • Firm sense of accountability and ownership for end-to-end project lifecycle.
  • Knowledge and working experience in data mining, statistics, mathematics is a plus.
