Job Title:

Day Program Activity Assistant

Job Summary:

The Day Program Activity Assistant plays a vital role in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by providing essential skill training in self-care, self-direction, independent living, and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Create a person-centered program of activities that are therapeutic in nature, cognitive, sensory, and tactile.
  2. Facilitate group discussions and activities, ensuring a quality program is offered every day.
  3. Utilize existing community resources to augment the program and encourage participant use.
  4. Maintain the physical space to ensure the health and safety of participants.
  5. Regularly document participant progress and communicate any significant changes or challenges with the program supervisor and teams.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Six months of experience or an equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Excellent communication skills and time management
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record
Working Conditions:

The Day Program Activity Assistant works a 40-hour per week schedule, requiring the ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, stoop, and handle objects with hands and/or fingers, talk, and/or hear and see. The position also requires the capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs on a daily basis.
