About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Medical Instrument Specialist to join our team in Orange, California. This is a full-time opportunity with a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining instruments and equipment in an optimal fashion and preparing instrumentation, equipment, and sterile supplies for the surgical patient.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Clean and/or disinfect instruments and equipment after use and returns it to the proper area, in appropriate sequence, for storage and/or processing.
  • Differentiate sterilization and disinfection methods required for specific instruments and equipment.
  • Clean, wrap, sterilize, and disinfect instruments and equipment and maintains the functions of the instrument processing area/department.
  • Run daily tests and document findings.
  • Escalate issues and concerns to manager, supervisor, and/or director of nursing.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A high school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • An understanding of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies, including industry-standardized principles and practices in sterilization and disinfection.
  • Prior experience in instrument processing.
  • Prior experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist (preferred).
  • Succesful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BCLS certification.
  • Certification in instrument processing.
