Job Summary

The Endoscopy Technician 1 provides technical support to the physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). This role is responsible for assisting with all types of GI procedures, cleaning, high level disinfection, and basic troubleshooting of endoscopes and accessory equipment following policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with GI procedures, cleaning, and disinfection of endoscopes and equipment
  • Provides technical support to physicians during procedures
  • Works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Performs unit secretarial and clerical aspects of patient care as needed
  • Meets qualifications and competencies as identified in the department specific Plan for Providing Care
  • Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care
  • Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • One year of GI Lab experience preferred
  • Able to read, write legibly, and speak in English with professional quality
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position
  • Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
