Job Summary:The Certified Nursing Assistant will provide direct resident care under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, assisting with daily living activities, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our residents.
Responsibilities:- Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral care
- Assist with ambulation, transferring, and positioning residents
- Record vital signs, weights, and measurements, as well as intake and output
- Participate in collecting data for the MDS and plan of care
- Prepare residents for meals and transport them to the dining room
- Keep accurate records of food intake and output
- Assist with aseptic and sterile techniques to prevent infection
- Be alert for proper ventilation, temperature, light, and noise control
- Promptly answer call lights and respond to resident needs
- Utilize proper body mechanics when lifting or transporting residents
- Assist in the orientation and training of other staff, as requested
- Attend in-service education programs to meet facility educational requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records
- Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse
- Protect the personal property of residents
- Adhere to attendance standards and maintain established housekeeping standards
- Current Nursing Assistant Certification from the state
- Maintain CPR Certification
- High School Graduate or GED
The Certified Nursing Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment, subject to frequent interruptions and frustrations. The role requires flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies. The position may involve exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:The Certified Nursing Assistant will be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations, function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies. The role requires meeting general health requirements set forth by the policies of Bell Minor Home, which may include a medical and physical examination.
