Job Summary

This is an advanced operational level lead non-exempt position responsible for providing direction to custodial staff on daily operational activities and performing custodial work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under general direction of the Asst. Custodial Supervisor, provide direction to custodial staff on daily operational activities.
  • Perform custodial work, including cleaning offices, carpets, floors, and other areas.
  • Develop, implement, and conduct training and safety programs for custodial staff.
  • Establish effective working relationships with staff and supervisors.
  • Maintain written records and prepare reports, perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Guide custodial staff on standard safe work practices.
  • Operate University fleet vehicles, if required.
Requirements
  • At least one year of experience performing custodial work.
  • Experience and skills to determine use of custodial materials and custodial equipment needed to perform cleaning tasks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning solvents, soaps, waxes, and other related chemicals used to clean offices, carpets, floors, etc.
  • Knowledge of standard safety precautions and rules used in custodial work.
  • Customer service skills to establish effective working relationships.
  • Preferred: At least 6 months of experience in leading other staff or students.
Work Environment

Work irregular shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Work alone in buildings; in isolated areas; travel from building to building at night and/or in a building with heavy traffic. Position may at times require the individual to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
