As a Refugee Support Case Coordinator, your role will involve providing essential assistance to newly arrived refugee and immigrant families who are navigating their first experiences in the United States. You will play a crucial part in connecting them with community services and facilitating their enrollment in vital programs. Each case manager will collaborate with individuals and families to develop a self-sufficiency plan, working towards stability throughout the intensive three-month resettlement period mandated by federal regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating housing, medical, educational, employment, and health services to support individuals in achieving self-sufficiency and overall well-being.
- Documenting case notes and completing applications for various assistance programs, including MFIP, MNsure, and SNAP.
- Utilizing MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) effectively.
- Engaging with children and families, ensuring their needs are met during the resettlement process.
- Driving families, including those with children requiring car seats, using personal and agency vehicles.
- Maintaining a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation for daily travel across the designated service area.
- Proficiency in languages such as Arabic, Oromo, Spanish, or Somali is preferred.
