Sterile Processing Specialist

At Virginia Hospital Center, we are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician II to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning and decontaminating medical equipment and instrumentation, preparing sterile procedure trays and equipment, and operating steam, low temperature sterilizers, and any other type of sterilization equipment used within the Central Sterile Processing department.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and an accredited course on central service technician training. Two years of sterile processing experience is preferred, as well as certification in sterile processing. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the standards of the organization's mission, goals, and safety behaviors, and will participate in training and in-service programs for staff and students.

The Sterile Processing Technician II will be accountable for quality performance and will represent the Central Sterile Processing department in a positive and professional manner at all times. Key responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning and decontaminating medical equipment and instrumentation
  • Preparing sterile procedure trays and equipment
  • Operating steam, low temperature sterilizers, and other sterilization equipment
  • Maintaining sterile/clean storage and department areas
  • Answering phone and service door
  • Delivering requested items
  • Completing required documentation on activities
