Job Summary

The Certified Athletic Trainer functions in two primary roles: as a traditional athletic trainer and as a rehab aide in an outpatient rehabilitation setting. In this capacity, the trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive athletic health services, including pre-practice and pre-game preparation, injury/illness evaluation, first aid emergency care, follow-up rehabilitation, and related services, all under the advice and consent of a licensed team physician.

Responsibilities

The Certified Athletic Trainer will evaluate assigned athletes according to acceptable practice guidelines and in compliance with department policies and procedures. The trainer will implement competent treatment and intervention and provide regular re-assessments for the purpose of treatment modification, to maximize athletes potential for functional independence, all in accordance with acceptable practice guidelines and department policies and procedures. The trainer will also complete required documentation and maintain pertinent records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

The Certified Athletic Trainer must have a Bachelor's degree in athletic training or a related field from an accredited college/university. The trainer must be nationally certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and licensed or eligible in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The trainer must also have adequate conversational English to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the Associate Handbook and all hospital policies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an outpatient rehab setting is strongly preferred. Experience in a high school or collegiate environment is also preferred. The trainer must be able to demonstrate the ability to be efficient and productive by organizing job duties and responsibilities. The trainer must also maintain effective communication regarding therapy programs, facility programs, and departmental/programmatic issues. The trainer must maintain equipment and environment in a safe and orderly manner. The trainer must demonstrate commitment to professional growth, department growth, and competency. The trainer must contribute to the organization and operation of the department/programs within Community Based Rehabs strategic plan and mission statement. Other duties as assigned by management.
