Sentara Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Operating Room (OR) Team.
We offer a competitive sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, along with relocation assistance.
Applicants must possess experience in the Operating Room; we will consider candidates with either General or Cardiac OR experience.
This is a full-time position with rotating shifts, primarily Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, including required on-call duties. Candidates should reside within a 30-minute radius for on-call purposes.
Sentara Health operates a 238-bed Magnet designated facility. Our location is in a vibrant area known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing, and various community events.
Department Overview:
The Cardiac OR consists of two operating rooms and one hybrid OR. Nurses collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants.
The role of the cardiovascular operating room nurse is integral to the surgical services team, focusing on the care of open-heart patients. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing the operating room and ensuring all necessary equipment and medications are available.
- Reviewing patient charts and assessing patients upon admission.
- Positioning patients in the OR and administering medications while monitoring vital signs throughout the procedure.
- Documenting all relevant information and providing a detailed report to the ICU nurse post-surgery.
- Preparing the OR for subsequent cases.
Education Requirements: Candidates must hold a Diploma, Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in Nursing.
All Direct Care RNs are required to obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire and ACLS certification within one year.
