Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in park management, natural resource stewardship, and customer service. As a Park/Historic Site Superintendent II, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Lockhart State Park, including managing staff, maintaining facilities, and ensuring the safety of visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise a team of park staff, including maintenance personnel, interpreters, and customer service representatives.
  • Develop and implement plans for park maintenance, including repairs, renovations, and new construction projects.
  • Ensure the safety of visitors and staff by enforcing park rules and regulations, and responding to emergencies.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote the park's natural and cultural resources, including educational programs, special events, and community outreach.
  • Manage the park's budget, including planning, preparation, and monitoring of financial reports.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, volunteer organizations, and other stakeholders to promote the park's mission and goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as park management, natural resource management, or business administration.
  • Three years of experience in park management, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience as a supervisor or team leader.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a supervisor or team leader in park and/or golf course operations and management.
  • Experience in managing and developing personnel.
  • Experience with community outreach and coordination of partnerships.
  • Experience managing natural, cultural, and other park resources.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a public park with overnight camping and day use visitors. The position also requires working 40 hours per week, including various schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The position also requires responding to emergencies and on-call situations, performing work outdoors, and occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
