Position Overview:
The Security Specialist II serves as the primary responder for all safety-related issues, security events, and service requests at facilities managed by Seattle Children's. This role is crucial in the department's mission to deter, detect, prevent, respond to, and document any concerns or incidents that may jeopardize the safety and welfare of patients, families, visitors, staff members, and property.

Key Responsibilities:
In this capacity, the Security Specialist II will address situations that encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Fire emergencies
  • Hazardous material spills
  • Disaster response
  • Medical emergencies
  • Safety support
  • Missing children
  • Active shooter scenarios
  • Bomb threats
  • Individuals in distress or escalating situations
  • Unauthorized individuals on premises with potential criminal intent

Required Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• An Associate degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, or a combination of three years of experience in Security Services or a related area.

Certifications:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
• CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (Annual Requirement).
• Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire.
• Completion of Seattle Children's Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire.
• Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for the role.
• Achieve a score of 80% or above on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in the assigned area within 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A valid Washington State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Completion of Wheelchair Vehicle Training.
• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification.
• Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for the location.

Compensation:
The hourly salary ranges from $35.21, with an annual salary range of $48,000 to $73,236.80. This compensation range is based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year) and may vary based on multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise.
