Maintenance Foreperson

This is a supervisory position in the Public Works Department's Maintenance Division. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Public Works Director/County Engineer while managing the Maintenance Division. The ideal candidate will have experience in road construction and heavy equipment repair and operations, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Provide administrative support to the Engineer in managing the Maintenance Division personnel.
• Develop and administer a broad range of Maintenance Division programs to preserve and enhance the County's transportation network.
• Manage all highway maintenance activities during weather-related emergencies.
• Administer the Right-of-Way management program to protect the Right of Way and reduce violations.
• Manage the equipment fleet to maximize efficiency and minimize cost.
• Manage the department's safety program to reduce risks and promote a safe work environment and procedures.
• Manage the County's Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
• Manage the Material and Supply Acquisition Program to ensure adequate levels of materials are on hand to perform required maintenance activities.
• Assist the Engineer in preparing the annual budget and managing the current budget.

• High school diploma or GED and extensive experience in road construction and heavy equipment repair and operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Class A commercial driver's license in the State of Minnesota with airbrake endorsement.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience in team lead or supervisory roles.
• Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
