We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Navigator to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a Patient Navigator, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Job Summary:

The Patient Navigator will be responsible for managing all incoming calls, external and internal referrals for oncology services. This includes fielding incoming inquiries and requests, matching patients to the best possible service, physician, and appointment based on their diagnosis, geographic location, and preferences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all incoming calls and external referrals for oncology services
  • Field incoming inquiries and requests, matching patients to the best possible service, physician, and appointment
  • Function as a medically knowledgeable and friendly resource for patients and caregivers, referring providers, RWJBH providers, and staff
  • Ensure all required demographic, financial, referral/authorization, clinical, and other registration data is accurately scheduled, collected, verified, and communicated appropriately
  • Schedule physician oncology services for all RWJBH sites, pre-register patients, verify insurance, coordinate referrals, and communicate with patients and providers
  • Obtain and verify insurance/payment source, seek necessary referral/authorization, and assist with identification/resolution of insurance issues
  • Support multiple patient and payer types to ensure billing procedures are followed
Requirements:
  • One to three years of related experience within the healthcare field
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability and interest to learn clinical information and criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Emphasis on computer literacy and communication skills, such as Microsoft Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree
