POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of a Staff Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacist in various functions related to the efficient dispensing of medications. This includes delivering precise service, preparing billing statements, and managing the inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Must hold a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT, ExCPT) certification and maintain current registration with the relevant pharmacy board.
SKILLS:
- Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical supplies and medical equipment is preferred.
- Basic mathematical skills are essential.
- Proficient keyboarding skills necessary for pharmacy computer operations.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six months as a Tech I or equivalent experience in a pharmacy setting is required. Two years of experience as a pharmacy technician, including six months in retail customer service, is preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
- Responsible to: Director of Pharmacy, Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor.
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogens - B - Occasional exposure may occur during daily tasks. While the risk is minimal, unexpected exposure to potentially infectious materials may happen. Most exposure is superficial and limited to small amounts of fluid. The role involves working in close quarters within a bustling environment, with a low risk of infectious disease. There may be potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, allergenic drug products, and needle sticks, along with moderate exposure to video display terminals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires the ability to stand for the entire shift (8 to 12 hours), bend, and lift moderate weights (up to 30 lbs.). Adequate hearing to respond to telephone inquiries and sufficient eyesight to read prescriptions and job orders are necessary. The individual must be capable of moving swiftly throughout the facility during the entire shift.
