We are seeking a highly qualified Data Science Professor to join our team at Michigan State University. The successful candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop, coordinate, and teach data science courses for MS students with diverse technical backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach data science courses for MS students
  • Manage the MSDS program, including recruiting students and promoting the program
  • Communicate with program instructors to ensure high-quality course materials and adequate assessments of student learning outcomes
  • Create capstone projects for the MSDS program
  • Be the primary point of contact for students in the MSDS for all their advising needs
  • Coordinate the admissions process into the MSDS
Requirements
  • Doctorate in any field relevant to data science
  • Instructional excellence at the undergraduate and/or MS level
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment
  • Experience with student-centered pedagogical methods
Desirable Qualifications
  • Industrial experience in data science
  • Strong candidates will have documented managerial and/or administrative skills in an industrial or academic setting
