Key Responsibilities- Instruction and Assessment: Plan and deliver instruction to students with varying learning needs, using District and state-approved curriculum. Assess student progress through standardized and modified assessments, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Individualized Education Plans: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student. Collaborate with colleagues and parents to ensure IEP goals are met.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with teachers, teacher assistants, and specialists to discuss student progress, share best practices, and develop strategies to support student success. Communicate regularly with parents and students to keep them informed of progress.
- Classroom Environment: Establish a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes social and emotional development. Model positive behaviors and ensure students understand the importance of respect and responsibility.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student progress, including data and assessments. Prepare and submit reports to administrators and parents as required.
- Professional Development: Participate in staff development activities to enhance professional growth and stay current with best practices in special education.
The successful candidate will possess a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an LBSI endorsement. A strong understanding of special education principles, practices, and laws is essential. The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
