Role Summary:

The ML Systems Evaluation Engineering (MLSEE) team at Apple is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test with extensive experience in Machine Learning, audio, and visual technologies, as well as Conversational and Generative AI.

Your primary focus will be ensuring the highest quality of AIML products while collaborating with some of the most innovative product development teams globally.

This team is responsible for developing evaluation tools, automation frameworks, and methodologies that empower product teams across Apple to create intelligent user experiences powered by machine learning.

You will work closely with various new-product teams, applying your expertise and passion for innovation to address technical challenges associated with next-generation products.

Key Responsibilities:
This role involves owning the qualification of spatial perception, which is vital for activating Siri and other Apple user experiences related to AIML technologies. You will develop product evaluation, automation, and testing methodologies.

Utilizing cutting-edge AI models, you will create applications and testing solutions that leverage Apple's advanced technologies.

As a Software Engineer focused on the quality of ML models and features, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing testing solutions and automation frameworks.
  • Building AI models for quality insights and testing frameworks.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align research and contribute to product roadmaps.
  • Prototyping and testing new ideas, bringing research to fruition.

You will play a pivotal role in testing, maintaining, and delivering features that enhance Siri and other AIML-related products, thereby enriching customer experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
10+ years of experience as a Software Development Engineer.
4+ years in designing and architecting tools and frameworks.

Proficiency in handling datasets and conducting analyses for product quality insights.

Demonstrated expertise in statistics-based evaluation methodologies and user success metrics.

Deep understanding of ML concepts, including data utilization for ML, experimentation, and analytics.

Experience in analyzing user behavior, identifying patterns, and designing test strategies and automation frameworks.

Familiarity with Prompt Engineering and fine-tuning.

Knowledge of generative AI and its applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with conversational AI technologies and frameworks.
Familiarity with Apple's research and products is advantageous.
Experience with audio signal processing and analysis.
Experience in computer vision and robotics.

Compensation and Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is one component of our total compensation package, determined within a range based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200. Apple employees may also participate in discretionary employee stock programs and receive restricted stock unit awards.
