Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Assistant to join our team at MetaSense Inc. As a Surgical Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our surgical team by providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring the availability and functionality of surgical equipment.
  • Transport patients to and from the operating room, prepare patients for surgery, and serve as a first or second assistant to the surgeon during procedures.
  • Ensure the operating room is equipped with all necessary equipment for specific procedures and obtain medical records for physician review.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Perform surgical preps, including draping patients as needed, and assist with the placement of extracorporeal circulation.
  • Assure accurate tracking and accounting of patient charges.
  • Monitor inventory levels and supply usage to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Anticipate and plan for regulatory changes and space needs affecting the service.
Requirements
  • Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification, with experience in surgical assisting preferred.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as basic nursing care and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking, with a focus on patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in endoscopic vein harvesting.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice, with the ability to evaluate patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
Work Environment

The Surgical Assistant will work in a dynamic and fast-paced operating room environment, with frequent and prolonged standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with a focus on patient safety and satisfaction.
