Job Summary:
Geisinger Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician Associate to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for the preparation, care, sterilization, and transportation of medical and surgical instruments, packs, supplies, and equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and sort used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for decontamination.
  • Manually clean supplies of contaminants, remove waste matter, and operate and maintain decontamination equipment.
  • Prepare and pack decontaminated supplies for sterilization.
  • Monitor and operate sterilization equipment.
  • Examine supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Test and report any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.
  • Sterilize, prepare, wrap, and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts.
  • Maintain records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
  • Control inventory, reorder supplies, and check expiration dates.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - Required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience - Preferred.
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician within 18 months - Healthcare Sterilization Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterilization and Processing (CBSPD) - Required.
