Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to join our team, responsible for supporting a team doing data engineering and operations, software engineering, security engineering, DevOps Engineering, application development and data science.

The ideal candidate will have experience with developing infrastructure as code, automated virtual machine builds, and cloud-based services such as AWS EC2, S3, and VPC APIs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain cloud-based infrastructure using HashiCorp Terraform, OpenTofu, or AWS Cloud Formation
  • Automate virtual machine builds using HashiCorp Packer
  • Design and implement secure cloud-based architectures using AWS EC2, S3, and VPC APIs
  • Develop and maintain software applications using a variety of programming languages and frameworks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Develop and maintain automated testing and deployment scripts
Requirements
  • Cloud Experience:
    • Experience with developing infrastructure as code (HashiCorp Terraform, OpenTofu, or AWS Cloud Formation)
    • Experience with automated virtual machine builds (HashiCorp Packer)
    • Experience with AWS EC2, S3 (to include bucket policy creation), VPC APIs
    • Experience with Puppet
    • Experience with Salt, Chef, or other configuration management
    • Experience with Docker
  • On-prem Experience:
    • Demonstrated understanding of networking fundamentals, VPNs, automated use of various cloud vendor's virtual private server as might be used in the construction of runtime defined network connectivity.
    • Experience developing automated provisioning of Linux operating systems with security hardening.
    • Experience with various hardware profiles to include multiple makes of laptop, desktop computers.
    • Experience mirroring Linux operating system installers and their corresponding package repositories.
    • Demonstrated experience as a full stack developer, including frontend and backend development with technology stacks such as SpringBoot, Django, Flask, Angular, jQuery, or React.
    • Demonstrated experience with backend database and search systems such as Elasticsearch, JanusGraph, DataStax Graph, PostgreSQL, Mysql/MariaDB, SQLite.
    • Demonstrated experience with Agile practices and methodologies
    • Demonstrated experience using programming languages such as Java, Python, Shell Scripting (bash), Javascript.
    • Demonstrated experience using software engineering utilities such as Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, git, and Docker.
    • Demonstrated experience in the software development lifecycle, and delivering within DevOps toolsets.
    • Demonstrated experience with development in AWS, on-prem and standalone environments.
    • Demonstrated experience with development leveraging cloud data services (such as S3, RDS, SNS, SQS).
