Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Clinician I to join our Emergency Services team at City of Chesapeake Human Resources. As a key member of our team, you will provide pre-admission screening and crisis intervention to individuals in need, utilizing your expertise in crisis intervention, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete pre-admission screening and crisis intervention to 24 hour Emergency Services Unit and the CIT Assessment Center
  • Conduct risk assessments to determine the appropriate level of care using the least restrictive alternative to manage crises
  • Advocate for individuals requiring inpatient treatment, crisis stabilization, or detox services
  • Consult with magistrates regarding and obtaining TDOs and ECOs to promote safety of individuals and the community
  • Maintain documentation in electronic health record in compliance with agency quality assurance standards
  • Coordinate admissions to hospitals and other outpatient treatment options
  • Represent City of Chesapeake Human Resources in commitment hearings
  • Work closely with law enforcement to triage mental health crises in the community
  • Use DSM-5-TR to formulate diagnoses
  • Complete crisis assessments and treatment plans
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience
  • State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), Clinical Psychologist (LCP)
  • May consider as a marginal applicant a Resident in Counseling or Supervisee in Social Work with the ability to obtain licensure within the probationary period
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Rehabilitation, or another Master's degree that may qualify for independent practice
  • LCSW or LPC preferred
  • Supervisee in Social Work or Resident in Counseling will also be considered
