Hobby Lobby is seeking a seasoned Operations Director to oversee the entire fleet operation and provide exceptional customer service to our retail stores. This key role reports directly to the Vice President of Transportation.

Hobby Lobby is the largest privately-owned arts-and-crafts retailer in the world, with over 1,000 stores and 43,000 employees operating in 47 states. Our corporate headquarters feature over 10 million square feet of manufacturing, distribution, and office space in Oklahoma City.

Fleet Operations

The Transportation Fleet Manager will be responsible for overseeing a fleet of 480+ tractors and over 1,100 trailers, traveling an average of 6.5 million miles per month. This role will ensure that all aspects of fleet operations are running smoothly, including:

  • People Management
    • Build strong relationships with internal and external staff
    • Recruit, hire, train, and retain employees
    • Provide open, honest, and timely feedback on employee performance
  • Operations Management
    • Implement and support company policies and practices
    • Evaluate processes and procedures for potential improvements
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize capacities and reduce operational costs
    • Monitor and enhance efficiencies in the Yard, Mechanical Shop, Fuel Bay, and Tire Bay departments
  • Safety Management
    • Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies' safety and compliance standards
    • Model a culture of safety by leading by example
    • Proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions, work processes, and behaviors
  • Planning and Improvement
    • Collect and analyze data to drive process improvement initiatives
    • Effectively communicate business plans and priorities across the organization
    • Manage and communicate change initiatives to managers and employees
  • Financial Management
    • Lead the operation with integrity to meet or exceed business plan targets
    • Have a general knowledge of the fleet budget and associated costs
    • Collaborate with managers on ways to reduce operating costs

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 8 years of fleet management experience
  • High school or GED required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DOT, Hazmat, and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
