Recreation Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Recreation Coordinator for the Elevate Program is responsible for delivering direct support to adults with disabilities. This role requires collaboration with fellow Recreation Leaders and the Program Coordinator to foster a secure and engaging atmosphere for participants.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM - 2:15 PM
Available Shifts:
- 3 days a week, 8:15 AM – 2:15 PM, approximately 20 hours weekly
- 2 days a week, 8:15 AM – 2:15 PM, approximately 15 hours weekly
Key Responsibilities:
1. Uphold Agency Values:
- Adhere to the organization's mission and policies
- Foster respectful interactions with participants and colleagues
- Comply with all relevant policies and procedures
2. Program Instruction:
- Facilitate activities for participants with disabilities
- Encourage participation and enjoyment in daily programs
- Assist in planning engaging camp activities
- Communicate effectively with families regarding participant progress
3. Safety Maintenance:
- Ensure a secure environment for all individuals
- Supervise equipment usage and intervene when necessary
- Stay vigilant to participant behaviors and respond appropriately
- Document incidents and follow safety protocols diligently
4. Equipment and Workspace Management:
- Assist in setting up and cleaning activities
- Organize and maintain program supplies
- Contribute to the cleanliness of the program area
5. Transportation Support:
- Assist participants during transportation
- Provide support during bus rides, particularly during behavioral situations
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness after each trip
6. Promote a Safe Environment:
- Maintain a clean driving record and ensure vehicle safety
- Adhere to safety regulations at the program site
- Report any maintenance issues promptly
- Participate in annual Defensive Driving training
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Certified Nursing Assistant Certification required
- Valid Illinois Driver's License required
Experience:
- Up to 1 year of relevant experience preferred
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience highly preferred
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Physical capabilities including standing, lifting, and basic computer skills.
Compensation:
$18.60 per hour.
