Tutoring Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Student Tutor. As a Student Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting student learning and success.

• Provide appointment-based tutoring to individuals and/or small groups in various subjects, including Accounting, Anatomy and Physiology, Astronomy, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, Math, Physics, and Spanish.
• Monitor students' attendance and progress at tutoring sessions, discussing unsatisfactory progress and identifying opportunities for additional college resources.
• Support and encourage independent learning, coordinating tutoring meetings and schedules as needed.
• Submit paperwork in a timely manner, including reports and timesheets.
• Implement skills-based tutoring, focusing on developing students' critical thinking skills.
• Maintain consistent, professional contact with students, the Learning Assistance Director, and other faculty members.

• Must be enrolled at Southwestern Community College (SCC).
• Must have earned a grade of A or B in the course being tutored in the subject being tutored.
• Must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA (Grade Point Average).
• Must show support from a minimum of two SCC Instructors.

This part-time, non-exempt staff position offers a competitive hourly rate of $15.00.
