The Staffing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of nursing units at Atrium Health. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily staffing levels, working closely with nursing managers to deploy staff to appropriate units, and maintaining strict confidentiality of private information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter schedules as provided by managers and publish available shifts for staff to sign up.
  • Deploy staff to appropriate units, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet patient care needs.
  • Approve vacations and communicate with staff, ensuring seamless coverage.
  • Maintain float pool staffing levels and deploy staff as necessary to meet unit demands.
  • Track attendance and tardiness, relaying information to managers as needed.
  • Coordinate with the HUB to ensure staffing levels match demand and acuity of each nursing unit.
  • Maintain accurate records of education dates and classes in ADP.
  • Assist the HUB with fielding calls and issues as needed, providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institute required.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to think outside the box and exercise judgment/discretion in making independent decisions.
  • Ability to multitask and establish and manage shifting priorities.
