Key Responsibilities:
The CMF Maser/Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) Technician is tasked with the upkeep, troubleshooting, and evaluation of Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA) alongside related cryogenic and mechanical apparatus. This role demands a robust understanding of RF/Microwave systems and the ability to operate at frequencies exceeding 2 GHz.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the principles and functionalities of IM&TE and RF systems.
- Utilize a diverse range of testing instruments, applying measurement techniques effectively.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions logically and implement corrective measures.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance down to the component level.
- Employ reverse engineering methods when repair documentation is absent.
- Execute calibrations, tests, and validation tasks, ensuring proper documentation of performance.
- Fabricate necessary cables, connectors, and interface devices.
- Identify performance issues and ascertain root causes of equipment failures.
- Innovate maintenance techniques to enhance existing protocols.
- Leverage computer automation for operation, calibration, and diagnostics.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed within a computerized maintenance management system.
- Operate with minimal supervision or technical guidance.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- General office and workshop settings.
- Utilization of test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Oscilloscopes.
- Operation of machine shop tools and power/hand tools.
- Handling of lifting equipment and pneumatic tools.
- Physical tasks may include lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, and working in high noise or dusty environments.
- Exposure to varying temperatures and conditions.
- Extended periods of sitting or standing may be required.
Required:
- Associate's degree in electronics or equivalent military training in Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) or Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL).
- Two years of relevant experience with cryogenic low noise amplifiers and RF/Microwave systems.
- Proven experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with computer operating systems and maintenance management software.
- Adherence to safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Availability to work on-site for up to five days a week.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Capability to work independently and follow instructions without direct oversight.
