As a pivotal member of the quality assurance team, you will engage daily with inspectors, production operators, engineers, suppliers, and clients. Your role will involve assisting in the management of the rubber compound manufacturing department's operations and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment by adhering to company safety protocols, regulations, and procedures. Promote a Safety-First Culture by identifying potential hazards. Enforce all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Act as a technical liaison with production planning, operations, and engineering teams on all quality-related matters (inspection, testing, nonconformities management, manufacturing process PAR and CAR, etc.).
  • Assist in the planning and design of quality control measures within manufacturing processes, as part of the project team, and in accordance with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles when necessary.
  • Enhance efficiency by analyzing quality issues, data, and results, and recommending improvements.
  • Review and assess proposed and processed engineering changes and/or other specification requirements from a quality perspective.
  • Support the management of the Material Review Board (MRB) process with engineering and production, ensuring prompt and controlled disposition of all nonconforming materials.
  • Facilitate all customer Corrective Action Requests (CARs) related to the manufacturing process, and publish and manage quality alerts and containment actions on the production floor in collaboration with production management.
  • Implement quality enhancements to reduce nonconformities in our manufacturing processes (application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles, mistake-proofing, quality training, self-inspection).
  • Aid in the training of all floor operators in self-inspection, quality principles, quality control, and validate all quality-related floor instructions (such as visual criteria and limit samples).
  • Oversee and complete First Article Inspections (FAIs), Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs), and APQP documentation in a timely manner.
  • Supervise the inspection team and manage inspection resources to meet manufacturing scheduling and lead-time requirements.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university is preferred; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 2 years of experience in quality within a component manufacturing environment is required.
  • Demonstrated success in manufacturing quality management and leadership, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Familiarity with quality tools, problem-solving methodologies, group facilitation, and brainstorming techniques.
  • Experience in an ISO 9000 / AS 9100 / IATF 16949 environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SPC, Lean, and Theory of Constraints (TOC) methodologies.
  • Experience in managing inspection teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to ITAR & NOFORN requirements.
