Organization Overview:
The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is committed to curing spinal cord injuries through innovative research and enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families affected by paralysis. As a prominent entity in spinal cord injury (SCI) research, the Foundation has allocated $140 million to essential research laboratories globally. Our National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC) offers extensive resources, tools, and services, including a comprehensive Quality of Life Grants Program, Peer & Family Support Program, Military and Veterans Program, Racial and Health Equity initiatives, and Advocacy efforts.

Position Summary:
We are looking for a Grants Coordinator to become a vital part of our dedicated four-member team. This position is responsible for supporting the daily administrative operations of the Quality of Life (QOL) grants program, covering key phases of the grant lifecycle: 1) Pre-Award processes, 2) Award cycle communications, and 3) Post-Award evaluation and reporting mechanisms. The primary duties include managing incoming grant requests, assessing eligibility, liaising with stakeholders, assisting in the preparation of application materials, handling award and declination communications, and facilitating grant follow-up processes. The coordinator will also contribute to special projects as required. The ideal candidate will embody and promote the Foundation's mission and core values in all interactions and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
People Management:

  • Process incoming grant applications through our online platform, evaluate applications for eligibility, request additional information, and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal grant regulations, including conducting grantee risk assessments.
  • Review interim reports from grantees, summarize projects, and communicate follow-up requirements.
  • Assist in disseminating NPRC news and updates to grant recipients, including requirements and deadlines.
  • Manage the QOL email account, providing applicants with program information and technical support.
  • Engage in outreach efforts to attract applicants from underserved communities, including organizations serving diverse populations.
  • Conduct site visits to current and past grant recipients as needed.
Event Coordination:
  • Participate in and assist with NPRC-sponsored events.
  • Contribute to internal and external workgroups as necessary.
Data Management:
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets, summaries, program reports, and presentations.
  • Assist in updating state and project-type reports.
  • Perform general data entry, validation, and updates.
Additional Duties:
  • Update the website with descriptions of grantee projects following each grant cycle.
  • Assist in drafting grant descriptions and state and project-type reports.
  • Distribute grant award packages and promotional materials.
  • Research and maintain accurate contact information for listings in the QOL online searchable database.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Associate degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent proofreading and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and ethical conduct.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adept at problem-solving.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build partnerships.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Proficiency in Foundant software.
  • Competence in MS Office Suite, Google Docs, databases, and internet research; basic website design skills.
Physical Demands:
This role is primarily sedentary but may require occasional physical activity, including moving around the office to collaborate with staff and access files. The position may also involve setting up for live events and lifting items up to 10 lbs.

Travel Requirements:
10-15% travel may be necessary for conferences, site visits, and presentations.
