Job Summary

The Burton Center For Disabilities & Special Needs is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our residential team. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality nursing care to individuals with disabilities and special needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Administer medication as prescribed and document each dose.
  2. Monitor individuals for potential side effects of medication.
  3. Ensure a continuous supply of medication and reorder as needed.
  4. Teach individuals about their medications and general health measures.
  5. Participate in self-administration teaching programs as ordered by physicians.
  6. Provide assistance in cases of sudden illnesses or injuries.
  7. Monitor and schedule laboratory work, x-rays, immunizations, and other medical appointments.
  8. Review and complete medical records, including vital signs and seizure records.
  9. Prepare medication administration records and consult with the Director of Nursing and Dietician as needed.
  10. Document all pertinent medical information in individual charts.
  11. Attend staffings and prepare for PDRs as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a current LPN license, one to two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and special needs, and effective communication skills. You must also be able to lift, turn, and assume awkward positions as needed.
