Fire Science Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Science Instructor to join our team at Lone Star College. As a Part-Time Fire Science Educator, you will be responsible for providing students with hands-on experience in a controlled laboratory environment, assisting Faculty/Instructors in providing learning activities and support, and teaching course material within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and assist in skills instruction for students within the Fire Science Program
- Teach and coach Cadets and/or Firefighters within the Fire Science Program under the supervision of a Faculty member or Instructor
- Maintain regular communication and coordination with course instructor(s)
- Assist in fire service-related skill evolutions and/or scenarios
- Submit student learning reports and grade sheets, and complete other paperwork as requested by Instructor
- Remain informed of new technologies in Fire Science and approaches to learning
- Notify the Instructor of incidents in the classroom or lab environment and provide regular reports of student progress
- Monitor laboratory safety protocols
- Assist in maintaining program equipment and facilities as needed
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection Level I Instructor or Fire Education Specialist Level I or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) in Fire Service Instructor 1 or higher
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection Field Examiner
- Texas Department of Health Emergency Care Attendant (ECA) or higher
- Teaching experience
- Three years of experience as a firefighter with a 911 service provider
