GAT Airline Ground Support is seeking a skilled Cargo Handler to join its team of aviation professionals. As a Cargo Handler, you will be responsible for organizing warehouse and storage facilities, arranging warehouse handling equipment, and loading/unloading air cargo. You will also maintain the required safety and quality standards, as well as comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Loading and Unloading: Load/unload air cargo on and off aircraft, carts, containers, and trucks.
- Transportation: Transport cargo between terminals and aircraft, and perform ramp transfers of cargo.
- Cargo Preparation: Prepare and palletize cargo as needed.
- Cargo Documentation: Read and legibly complete cargo documents and forms necessary to airline requirements.
- Cargo Handling: Assure proper handling and delivery of cargo and operation of related equipment.
- Dangerous Goods: Follow Dangerous Goods Requirements and Regulations.
- Compliance: Comply with GAT Airline Ground Support's Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
- Pick-up and Delivery: Pick up and deliver cargo as indicated.
- Electronic Device Navigation: Ability to navigate electronic devices (computers, fax machines, printers, time clock, etc).
- GSE Maintenance: Working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
- Commercial Aviation: Experience and understanding of the commercial issues in aviation.
- Education: Must have a High School diploma or GED.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Communication: Capable of processing information in a timely manner.
- Driver's License: Must have and maintain a Valid Driver's License.
- Language: Able to proficiently speak, read, and write in English.
- Computer Literacy: Basic computer literacy.
- Ramp Experience: Previous ramp or airline experience.
- Training and Certifications: Must successfully complete all training requirements and maintain certifications throughout employment.
- Background Check: Must clear an FBI fingerprint background check.
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit to perform the duties of the job, including standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time.
- Lifting: Capable of repetitively lifting up to 70 pounds in confined spaces and repetitively.
- Weather Conditions: Willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noises.
- Variable Shifts: Must be able and flexible to work variable shifts, weekends, and holiday-specific shifts to be determined.
- Extended Hours: Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations.
