Job Summary

Cardinal Services of Indiana is seeking a dedicated Family Support Specialist to provide long-term support to families within their homes. This role involves applying social work strategies to help families foster a supportive home environment and advocate effectively for their children's needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Family-Centered Interventions: Utilize strength-based approaches to build trusting relationships with families, promoting a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
  • Support and Development: Enhance parent-child relationships and assist parents in developing skills to improve the home environment, creating a safe and nurturing space for children to thrive.
  • Case Management: Engage in comprehensive case management to deliver effective family and children services, ensuring that families receive the support they need to overcome challenges.
  • System Improvement: Work to enhance the family support system and empower families to solve problems and advocate for themselves and their children, promoting self-sufficiency and independence.
  • Bilingual Applicants: Preferred for this role, as proficiency in multiple languages can greatly enhance the ability to connect with diverse families and provide culturally sensitive support.
Job Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human services or related fields preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation in social work principles and practices.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with or providing services to children and families, showcasing a commitment to supporting vulnerable populations.
  • Skills: Ability to establish trusting relationships, accept individual differences, and work effectively with culturally diverse families, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of infant and child development, including the importance of early intervention and support.
  • Other: Willingness to engage in reflective practices, including self-reflection and continuous learning, to ensure that services are delivered with the highest level of quality and effectiveness.
