Job Description
Civil Engineering Project Lead - Transportation Infrastructure

This role involves overseeing multiple engineering tasks and managing a team of professionals in the Pacific Northwest region. You will lead complex utility coordination projects, transit projects, and oversee work from engineers at various levels. This position requires excellent design expertise and leadership skills to mentor and lead engineers in plan preparation and report writing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team while building relationships with key clients.
  • Focus on road and highway projects, possibly rail and transit with bridge interface.
  • Demonstrate exceptional design expertise, mentor, and lead engineers in preparing plans and reports.
  • Manage projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, help recruit, and be a positive role model.
  • Maintain affiliation with professional societies to stay updated on current technologies.

Management Responsibilities:
  • Oversee your team's technical deliverables and meet project schedules from design through construction.
  • Supervise the production of project plans and reports.
  • Promote technical excellence on projects, ensuring adequate checking in accordance with discipline checking policy and procedures.
  • Ensure discipline design work is coordinated with project staff and engineers from other disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communications.
  • Establish budgets, ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables, and supervise execution of work.
  • Ensure tasks are delivered on-time and within budget.
  • Provide technical project updates to agency staff.
  • Support design bid-build and alternative project deliver/design-build projects.

Qualifications:
  • 12 years or more experience in civil engineering design, preferably supporting major transportation projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting projects in the Pacific Northwest is desirable.
  • Knowledge of state standards and specifications.
  • Client contacts and relationships with local authorities having jurisdiction, resource agencies, and other local, regional, and state agencies is desirable.
  • Experience writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for projected work.
