**Job Summary**
Exeter Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for performing and assessing the validity of qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations used in the analysis, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using automated instrumentation or manual methods, adhering to established procedures and protocols.
- Conduct established quality assurance procedures, including quality control testing, instrument function checks, and calibrations, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Assess the accuracy and validity of obtained test results by applying knowledge of relevant scientific principles and identifying potential causes for irregular and atypical findings.
- Maintain records of tests and examinations and final results for all record functions and inquiries related to patient care.
- Troubleshoot instruments and resolve technical problems whenever possible, documenting corrective actions and reporting issues to the department Supervisor or Manager as necessary.
- May assist in instructing students and laboratory personnel in the principles and techniques of diagnostic tests and examinations.
- Perform phlebotomy according to established protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including order entry and specimen receipt, and provide exceptional customer service to all customers of the laboratory.
**Requirements**
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- ASCP, AMT, or HEW certification, or eligibility to obtain within 6 months of hire.
