Role ResponsibilitiesBrooklyn Lab is looking for an Educational Support Specialist to assist students individually and in small groups. This role offers a distinctive opportunity for talented individuals, whether experienced or new to education, to delve into the educational field and gain practical experience supporting essential teaching functions. Educational Support Specialists will have the chance to observe exemplary teaching practices and educational reform strategies from seasoned educators and school leaders within a prominent charter management organization. Responsibilities will include tutoring, grading, data analysis, and providing administrative assistance to teachers.
Key Responsibilities Include:Collaboration- Assist in executing the educational program within assigned classrooms to foster student engagement in all learning activities.
- Work alongside classroom teachers to deliver targeted, small group, and individualized support to students.
- Help create a nurturing learning environment that addresses students' emotional and social needs through conflict resolution and collaborative activities.
- Support teachers in maintaining detailed notes regarding the effectiveness of behavior management strategies.
- Contribute to the development and execution of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) that may include alternative schedules and structured breaks.
- Actively participate as a member of the grade-level team in professional learning communities and weekly faculty meetings.
- Employ positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to guide students in appropriate social behaviors and maintain classroom order.
- Adhere to Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) to effectively respond to student behaviors.
- Support the Family and Community Partnership team by attending and engaging in family events and occasional activities outside of regular work hours.
- Assist with the safe arrival and departure of students, including managing entry and exit procedures.
- Respond to communications from families and school staff within 24 business hours.
- Serve as a model for setting and maintaining clear expectations while fostering strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of experience working with children in diverse and urban settings preferred.

- Belief in providing a structured, predictable, and safe environment for children.
- Willingness to cultivate relationships with students, families, and other school personnel.

Salary Range: $40,000-$50,000, based on experience and education.
