Position Overview:

The Accounting Operations Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing all financial dimensions of operational accounting, serving as an integral member of the management team.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preparing or overseeing the creation of reports that summarize business activities, operational costs, and variances.
  • Assisting in the formulation of internal control procedures, standards, and compliance measures.
  • Ensuring that duties are properly segregated and that company assets are protected.
  • Managing the accounting functions at the facility to guarantee cross-training, sufficient coverage across all roles, and appropriate staff development.
  • Coordinating the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Responsible for the generation of weekly and monthly financial reports and variance analyses.
  • Reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Overseeing payroll functions and ensuring accuracy.
  • Collaborating with internal and external auditors on quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Managing inventory controls and ensuring accuracy.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5-7 years of experience in operational accounting.
  • Proficiency in SAP or a similar ERP system, along with Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to examine and validate financial documents and reports.
  • Capability to prepare various financial statements, reports, and analyses.
  • Familiarity with modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to fiscal recordkeeping.
  • Understanding of payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, and cost accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Understanding of supervision, training, and performance evaluation principles.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
  • A 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance, with a preference for 18 credit hours in accounting.
