Job Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer plays a crucial role in managing small-scale projects, providing engineering expertise, and offering process support to enhance production efficiency. This position is pivotal in driving the department's initiatives towards Lean Manufacturing by applying lean tools and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and refine manufacturing techniques to boost productivity.
  • Address manufacturing challenges by identifying root causes, implementing corrective measures, and ensuring sustained improvements.
  • Evaluate and strategize workforce allocation, spatial requirements, and workflow designs to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset, embracing risks, celebrating team successes, and taking accountability for outcomes.
  • Guide and mentor interns, new hires, and junior engineers.
  • Estimate production timelines, staffing needs, and associated costs to inform management decisions.
  • Proactively seek and implement opportunities for process enhancements across the organization.
  • Establish and uphold work standards that align with company strategies, including documenting operational procedures and follow-ups.
  • Identify and execute strategies to help locations meet labor budget expectations through analytics and coaching.
  • Analyze operational methods, develop improvement strategies, and recommend or implement necessary changes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to determine product specifications and oversee the procurement of equipment and materials.
  • Engage in and support the company's Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Lead and participate in Total Lean events aimed at improving productivity and minimizing waste.
  • Work alongside management to identify and spearhead continuous improvement projects utilizing lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Drive performance excellence through the execution of lean initiatives and act as a change agent within the organization.
  • Promote a culture of waste identification and elimination throughout manufacturing operations by applying Lean Manufacturing principles and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally within an engineering-focused lean environment.
  • Hands-on experience on the shop floor is highly desirable.
  • Previous exposure to Project Management, automation integration, and process development is beneficial.

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with technology, including proficiency in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

This role requires the ability to perform essential functions, which may include frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands for handling objects or controls. Regular standing and walking are required, along with occasional bending or reaching. The ability to lift up to 30 pounds may be necessary. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
