Position Overview:
We are in search of dedicated attorneys to enhance the legal team at the Westchester County Attorney's Office, focusing on the Family Court Bureau.
In this capacity, attorneys will manage legal issues related to the functioning of County government, particularly within the Family Court system. Responsibilities will include representing clients in cases concerning child welfare, juvenile offenses, and child support obligations.
- Ideal candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in family law and criminal justice.
- Must possess the ability to work independently, showcasing exceptional litigation skills along with strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated decision-making skills, outstanding organizational capabilities, and leadership traits are essential.
- A comprehensive understanding of criminal law, the Family Court Act, Social Services Law, and evidentiary procedures is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders in a dynamic environment are crucial.
Applicants for the child support position will be subject to a background investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice. Candidates with prior experience as a Family Court attorney or prosecutor are preferred.
Essential Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a law degree (LLB or JD) and be admitted to the New York State Bar. Experience in Family Court is advantageous.
