Role Overview

The Patient Financial Advisor plays a crucial role in assisting patients with their billing inquiries in a professional and supportive environment. This position is vital in ensuring that patients receive the best possible experience through accurate and timely assistance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing all elements of patient bills to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Collecting payments for upcoming procedures and managing past due balances.
  • Exploring alternative options for benefit coverage related to medical and pharmaceutical services.
  • Securing necessary authorizations for procedures.
  • Establishing payment arrangements to facilitate patient financial responsibilities.
  • Providing coverage at various locations as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of 1 year in customer service, healthcare, or office settings.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in healthcare billing, collections, or customer service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in computer skills necessary for data entry and retrieval.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to various audiences.
  • Familiarity with Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Capability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Reliable transportation may be required for travel to different facilities.

Job Duties:

  • Provide courteous and accurate assistance to patients regarding their accounts through various communication methods.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, providers, and external departments to ensure proper charge application and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely authorizations and provide accurate estimates for upcoming procedures.
  • Educate patients on financial responsibilities and available assistance options.
  • Deliver exceptional service to maintain high levels of patient satisfaction.

Compliance and Safety:

Remain informed about current laws, regulations, and standards relevant to the role, ensuring compliance at all times. This position may involve exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials typical in a healthcare environment.
