Clinical Services Associates play a vital role in the delivery of high-quality patient care at Pennsylvania Medicine. They should be certified Medical Assistants, have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience, and hold BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Patient Care and Clinical Responsibilities

Clinical Services Associates are responsible for preparing patients for examinations, obtaining vital signs, and documenting patient information in the EMR system. They assist with minor surgical procedures, perform laboratory tests, and prepare specimens for transport. Furthermore, they provide emergency response support, maintain accurate records, and adhere to infection control protocols.

Administrative and Clerical Duties

Clinical Services Associates manage front-end operations, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and handling patient requests. They also maintain accurate records, process billing information, and update patient demographic data in the EMR system. Furthermore, they participate in cash reconciliation processes, resolve work queues, and prioritize missing charges recovery.

Environmental and Safety Considerations

When working in the clinical environment, Clinical Services Associates must follow strict safety protocols, including proper hand hygiene, disposal of infectious waste, and maintaining a clean workspace. They ensure equipment is in good working order, restock supplies as needed, and secure stock items in designated areas. Moreover, they maintain accurate temperature logs for refrigerators and rooms, as well as medication storage closet inventory and security.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Clinical Services Associates must possess excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
