The Creativity Apps team is seeking a dedicated software QA engineer with expertise in photography and video editing to enhance the development of cutting-edge tools for creative professionals and visual storytellers.

This role demands a proactive individual with a blend of creative, technical, and analytical skills, coupled with a passion for emerging technologies in computer vision and on-device machine learning.


Key Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be tasked with planning, designing, maintaining, and executing test cases with minimal oversight. Your ability to conduct exploratory testing without relying solely on scripts or tools will be crucial. Effectively reporting bugs with exceptional isolation and regression techniques will be essential for your success.

You will manage a diverse range of deliverables, leveraging your skills in prioritization and effective communication of progress and risks.

Your ongoing curiosity and commitment to self-education in photography and video technologies, as well as new testing methodologies, will distinguish you in this role.

Collaboration with team members will be vital as you coordinate multi-functional testing efforts. You will maintain continuous communication with Engineering and Design teams as products evolve, advocating for users with empathy.

Streamlining processes for data collection and systematically analyzing large datasets will be significant advantages.


Essential Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in QA engineering.
  • Proficient in digital photography and video, with comprehensive knowledge of image editing software.
  • Active engagement with photo/video as a medium for communication in educational or social contexts.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and QA terminology.
  • Familiarity with subjective and objective image quality evaluation and color science concepts is highly beneficial.
  • Basic understanding of computational photography and machine learning is a plus.

Education & Experience:

3-5 years of experience in product QA environments or related fields is required. Familiarity with scripting languages or photo/video editing applications is highly desirable.


Additional Requirements:
  • Analytical, methodical, and persistent problem solver dedicated to enhancing quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Skilled in extracting user scenarios from software feature descriptions to develop effective test plans and cases.
  • Proven skills in bug detection, isolation, and regression.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Adept at conveying technical details to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with iOS and macOS platforms.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Swift, Python, JavaScript, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Understanding of UX principles.

Compensation & Benefits:

At Apple, base pay is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, determined within a range based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

The base pay range for this role is between $112,900 and $234,700. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs, including restricted stock unit awards and discounted stock purchases through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
