Detention Counselor

Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Detention Counselor to join our team. As a Detention Counselor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive development of at-risk youth in our short-term residential detention facility.

The Detention Counselor will be responsible for supervising the daily activities of youth, providing a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. You will work collaboratively with leadership to address any concerns and support the facility's mission to foster a safe and supportive space for youth during their stay.

• Account for the welfare and well-being of youth at all times, modeling appropriate behavior standards for youths.
• Counsel youth on an individual and group basis to assist with adjustment/transition to the program, ensuring youth follow and participate in program schedules.
• Assist with daily meal preparation and security and safety of youth and facility.
• Adhere to agency policies and procedures, following and supporting agency mission, vision, and values.

• Minimum of High School/GED required.
• 1 year + experience working with youth and families; Associates Degree can be substituted for the 1-year experience.
• Experience working with at-risk youth in detention/residential facility preferred.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training for Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and First Aid/CPR certification.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with variable hours, including day, evening, weekend, holiday, and subject to call hours.

• $1,000 Sign-on Bonus.
• Starting pay: $20.00 hourly (Non-Exempt).
