Job Summary

CARTHAGE FOREST PRODUCTS is seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team. As a Millwright, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining plant equipment, machinery, and structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in full compliance with all approved safety regulations
  • Follow required safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, and hot work permits
  • Plan, install, assemble, fabricate, lubricate, test, adjust, inspect, repair, and maintain plant equipment, machinery, and structures
  • Use machinery or equipment, such as Telehandlers and Manlifts, to move or access mechanical parts
  • Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures
  • Determine which machines, techniques, and tools to use
  • Install equipment, such as shafting, pulleys, and conveyors
  • Align and mount equipment within 0.001" using specialized tools
  • Shim and torque as required for alignment
  • Perform cutting, welding, and brazing as necessary
  • Make a written report on Maintenance Work Sheet at the end of each shift
  • Keep working area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition and perform all work in accordance with plant and departmental rules
Requirements
  • 3 years previous maintenance experience
  • Previous sawmill experience (preferred), industrial manufacturing maintenance experience required
  • Personal maintenance tools are required
Preferred Skills
  • Must be safety conscious at all times
  • Must practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment
  • Ability to cooperate with and coordinate duties with other members of the crew
  • Must be competent in reading blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to read and use precision instruments to measure
  • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to rebuild hydraulic and pneumatic components
  • Ability to cut and weld
Work Environment

This job requires the ability to sit, stand, lift, and/or move. Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in a loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).

Ability to work day, evening, and night shifts, weekends, and scheduled long (holiday) weekends.
